Have you ever wondered what is the single biggest confidence crusher? Surprise, surprise, it is us, human beings. While it is one of our biggest desires to be self-confident, because we believe it will help us to achieve our goals, at the same time, we are our biggest saboteurs.
It all starts in our families. Do you remember your mother being so sweet to your neighbors, teachers, and friends, only to turn into an infinitely more critical person when it came to you? (I certainly do!) How did that influence you? Didn't you start automatically demanding so much more of yourself than you would from others? Didn't you just believe a little bit that the rest of them were so much better than you?
The truth is, nobody is perfect; people just handle their imperfections differently. Some of them accept their imperfections, live quietly with them and do just fine. Others even take the situation a bit further and turn their "shortcomings" to their advantage, just look at some actors, especially comedians! Yet the rest of the population decides to dwell on their weaknesses and use them as excuses for not moving forward in life.
What to do if you belong to the third category? Accept your imperfections and start working on them, the sooner, the better. That said, you need to understand you will never be perfect at every single aspect of your life, simply because life doesn't work like that. Driving yourself to perfection will end up in one thing only: a huge confidence crush. Try taking an easier route, rather a cruise. Enjoy life, laugh at your imperfections and when you reach the point that they really drive you mad, work on them and move on!
Your ride will be much more fun and enjoyable.
