Here are my thoughts on the much hyped diameter:
I like the Outdoorsman:
1. The 6 "blade by book.com" title="hand">handThree layers of rolled steel called VG-1 San Mai III.
This steel has an inner core (cutting) VG-1 steel. There is a layer of much softer 400 series stainless steel on each side, the blade gives you flexibility.
Steel San Mai is about as good as it gets without spending more than $ 1,000.
2. It 's time proven design is ideal for drop-point skinning game.
3. Enjoy a ridge on the back of the blade that looks like a "Notice of blood"Groove.
This is actually a bone grinder that is used as hammering or cutting edge device.
4. Directly behind the bone grinder is jimping (thumb grooves). This is ideal for the application of direct pressure, when you need to make precise cuts.
5. The Cold Steel Outdoorsman has a finger guard and pommel are stainless steel. This gives you extra peace of mind.

I dislike:
1. Partially serrated knife would be helpful on this, but otherwise I have no major complaints.
Total:
With a suggested retail price of $ 285, outdoor knives from Cold Steel is worth every penny.
It is built like a tank and was also the most difficult situations.
